Dr. Noel Leon joined the IIN as a scientific officer in April 2023. He earned his B.A. in chemistry from Northwestern University in 2013, followed by a brief stint as a research scientist at a start-up company developing point-of-care diagnostics systems. In 2020, he earned his Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Illinois Chicago. Before rejoining Northwestern, Noel was a postdoctoral appointee at Argonne National Laboratory in the Joint Center for Energy Storage Research, a DOE Energy Innovation Hub.
Noel co-authored various peer-reviewed articles spanning synthetic organometallic chemistry to energy storage beyond lithium-ion batteries. He grew up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago and spends his free time with family and hobbies, including cars, soccer, hiking, and biking.
