Jenny Orbeck, International Institute for Nanotechnology, Northwestern University, Evanston Illinois
Dr. Jenny Orbeck joined the IIN as scientific officer in September 2021. She earned her B.S. degree in chemistry from the University of Iowa in 2012 and her Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2019. She has also held research fellowships and a staff position at Argonne National Laboratory. Prior to joining Northwestern, Jenny was a postdoctoral research fellow and later staff research scientist at the University of Wisconsin – Madison where she worked as part of the NSF Center for Sustainable Nanotechnology.
She is a published author on numerous peer reviewed scientific articles and the recipient of national and international research awards. She brings her broad background in chemistry and materials science as well as her strong collaborative and leadership skills to the position.
Jenny is a Chicago native and has completed the Chicago marathon three times. These days she enjoys walking her dog, reading, and going to museums in her spare time.
